Mums and Babies Yoga Brings Many Benefits
MUMS AND BABIES YOGA BRINGS MANY BENEFITS
Having a new baby is certainly right up there on the list of life events that causes stress. It’s a time of so many conflicting feelings. You are absolutely thrilled to meet your baby after having carried them around for nine months, yet your baby is so demanding. The endless washing, doubts in your mind, tiredness, wondering if you’re doing a good job, while dealing with hormonal fluctuations as part of the postnatal period can all be very testing.
Exercise can be an excellent release for the additional stress you are experiencing, however often it isn’t easy to manage care for your baby whilst taking time out for you. If you have difficulty finding a carer to exercise, the best option besides taking bub for a walk in the pram is Mums and Babies Yoga. It not only includes exercise that focuses on strengthening the core and improves flexibility, but offers the opportunity for new mums to meet others and share the mothering journey.
Because younger babies usually want to be held by their mothers, yoga poses and stretches are performed with babes in arms. As the babies grow and become more independent, they’re often happy to lie on a blanket or play with a toy while mum does her own yoga practice.
After a rejuvenating relaxation session at the end of class, in which most of the babies stay calm or receive a cuddle from the teacher, the women share fruit & tea and talk about issues that relate to them. It’s a healthy and supportive class for all and exercising at this stage of your post pregnancy is a great start to encourage healthy lifestyle practices with your new baby.
